Personally im a sucker for all and any thing Avocado! So when I found this recipe I was all excited to try it. Why healthified? Because we skip the cream, saturated fats and replace it with healthy creamy fats of an avocado. Did u know? Avo is also called as makhan phal / butter fruit. Well there is little fat coming from the chocolate slab, but that’s why we don’t term it super healthy… Its okay to have limited amounts occasionally. One bite and you’ll experience dessert heaven.

Ingredients for serving 3-4 persons

  • 1 Avocado, ripe
  • 3/4 cup Dairy free chocolate or Dark chocolate (70%) – I Used pure sugar free chocolate from Morde.
  • 1/4 cup Coconut milk or plain Greek yogurt ( I used Greek yogurt )
  • 2 tsp Honey or any other sweetener Or 1/2 tsp stevia powder- I skipped this

Method

  • Melt the chocolate gently over a double boiler or in a microwave. Stir well. Let it cool a bit before adding it to the other ingredients. – This is very important, else your mousse will be grainy.
  • In the meanwhile, combine the avocado, coconut milk/ Greek yogurt, and sweetener of your choice in a blender, until completely smooth. Now slowly add the melted chocolate and run the blender again until everything is combined well. Taste and adjust for sweetener.
  • You can add more liquid as well at this point if the mixture is too thick. The mousse will thicken more in the refrigerator.

Tips

  • Avoid using chocolate compound- it might have trans fat.
  • Choose no sugar or sugar free (maltitol as a sweetener is acceptable occasionally) chocolate.
  • Can add toasted walnut if you like.
