Waffles are considered to be a cheat meal by everyone. But not at Snack Right! We love to eat good food and that make us innovate most recipes to healthy versions. These waffles can be a great breakfast/ snack without worrying about refined flour/ sugar/fats! Serve it with a sauce/ fruit spread n cream n you have a great dessert too!

Ingredients (number would depend on waffle maker size and shape)

  • Wholewheat flour-1 1/2 cups (200g)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder or melted chocolate(no sugar) – 1/2 cup (50g)
  • Baking powder 2 tsp
  • Eggs- 2 large
  • Milk- 1 3/4 cups (400g)
  • Buttermilk- 1/2 cup
  • Protein Powder- 3tsps (Optional)
  • Peanut Butter- 2 tsps (Optional)
  • Vegetable oil- 1 Tbsp
  • Stevia- as per requirement
  • Chia Seeds- 1.5 tsp (Optional)
  • Vanilla extract- 1 tsp
  • To serve: Fruit spread/ honey/ cream / fruit

Method

  • Sift the flour, salt, cocoa, and baking powder into a bowl
  • Make a well in the centre, add the eggs, milk, vanilla, oil, buttermilk and mix well with a balloon whisk until blended and the batter is smooth
  • Keep aside for 10-12 mins (important when using whole wheat flour).
  • Spray brush oil or butter in waffle pan, start heating it. Mix batter well, pour in batter, just enough to fill the hot waffle iron, then close. Cook for 4-6 minutes until they easily come out of pan.
  • Serve with your favourite topping.

Tips

  • If u don’t have a waffle maker, make these into sweet pancakes or in the toaster.
  • Remember not to stack if you’re making a huge pile, rather spread them out to avoid sogginess.
  • Do not put excess batter into pan as it rises and may pour out/ not get cooked.
